Planning your Fine Art Boudoir (FAB) session takes work. There are so many things to consider.
One of the most common questions I am asked when it comes to planning a FAB session is,
"What do I wear?"
The wardrobe in your session is by far one of the MOST important parts of telling your story. It helps convey the emotion and feeling, along with, where/when we are and what this person is about.
For example, if you wanted to see yourself as a badass hell raiser we wouldn't have you wear a sundress and flip flops. That wouldn't tell anyone looking at the photo that is what you are trying to say.
That is why the right wardrobe is so important to the styling of your session.
The second question I get asked after "what do I wear" is,
"Where do I find clothes?"
This question alone can make doing a FAB session seem out of reach for some people. Having to budget for a session and photos is one thing. But also having to get clothes and accessories, that is a lot to pay for.
But, I am here to tell you it doesn't have to be.
Not if you know where to look. You can get jaw-dropping outfits and accessories at prices that can fit any budget.
So Let's get down to business and answer those two burning questions!
1. What to buy?
If you are only going to buy one new article of clothing for your next FAB session, I would make sure it is a bodysuit.
Honestly, If I could only photograph one article of clothing on women for the rest of my life it would be bodysuits. They are amazing.
Because they hug all the right places on a person's body. Curvy or skinny they help give everyone shape.
If you don't like your tummy it keeps it covered.
If you love your legs or want to look like you have long legs, bodysuits make it happen.
They come in a million different styles.
Most importantly for this article, they are available at every price point.
That leads us to the second question.
2. Where to buy?
Plain and simple, Target.
The store that has everything now has updated their selection of lingerie and they are putting out beautiful pieces at great prices.
This stunning outfit makes Ms. Quinn look like a million bucks but it only cost her 40 dollars total.
The bodysuit is from Target and costs 20 dollars. The gold shoes were from Old Navy and also only $20. So for 40 dollars, She has an outfit that looks stunning and still costs less than a plain bra at Victoria's Secret.
Clearance sales can be your best friend when looking for lingerie.
The bodysuit Ms. Quinn is wearing in the photo above is also from Target and was on clearance for just 10 dollars!
That is hard to beat!
But big stores like Target aren't the only option. You can also find beautiful pieces for great prices on Etsy!
The lingerie Ms. Quinn is wearing in the photos above was custom made on Etsy by LALcouture for 44 dollars with shipping. I should also note that Ms. Quinn regarded the seller as having excellent customer service and delivered a fantastic product.
So there you have it! Three beautiful outfits that are still less than what you would likely spend on three similar options at Victoria Secret.
Now you know have a better idea of what to look for and where to find it when you are ready to rock your own Fine Art Boudoir (FAB) session.
I hope you are even more excited to do your shoot now that you know how attainable a beautiful wardrobe is!
